Dr. Shelley MacDougall is a professor of finance in the F.C. Manning School of Business Administration at Acadia University. Born and raised in Nova Scotia, she earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary’s University, an MBA from Dalhousie, and a Ph. D. from Bradford University, in Bradford, England. She co-owned and operated a business, EEP Engineered and Environmental Products Inc. She joined the Acadia faculty in 1987.
Dr. MacDougall’s area of research is in strategic capital investments and investment in new technology. She is a founding member of the Acadia Tidal Energy Institute and is presently conducting research on the development of tidal energy in the Bay of Fundy. She was co-project lead and editor of The Community and Business Toolkit for Tidal Energy Development, author of 2 modules: “Financial Evaluation and Cost of Energy;” “Financing, Government Supports and Managing Risk;” and co-author of “Opportunities and Strategies for Businesses.”
