Based at Heriot-Watt University’s Orkney Campus Sandy’s research interests lie in the planning and management of marine resources and the development process in peripheral and island communities. Sandy has worked on a wide variety of projects in locations as varied at the Galapagos, Caribbean and Thailand. In the context of marine energy he has a particular interest in the allocation of sea space for marine energy developments the conflict it creates and the potential for marine energy to generate community benefits. Sandy is curently a member of the FP7 MESMA research consortium.
Sandy is programme director for three Heriot-Watt University MSc programmes in Marine Renewable Energy;Renewable Energy Development and Marine Resource Management.
