Jasper is a principal investigator in ecological economics at the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS), a partner of the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI), and head of the Laurence Mee Centre for Society and the Sea. I have a broad research interest covering ecological and environmental economics, ecosystem services (particularly cultural services), environmental psychology, ethics, conservation, sustainable development, and environment-spirituality links. My main research focus has been on deliberative and participatory approaches to valuing ecosystem services, using both monetary and non-monetary tools. I recently was principal investigator for the second phase of the UK National Ecosystem Assessment on Shared, Plural and Cultural Values (see http://www.lwec.org.uk/sharedvalues).
